Solid inclusions

F-Apatite (Source A) [Ca5(PO4)3(OH,F)]

Group of more or less resorbed, colorless fluor-apatite crystals. 26x
Minor detectable concentrations of fluorine were found in a few of the apatites. Similar apatites were determined in a hand specimen from the Andranondambo mine. The possible OH-concentrations of the apatites were not investigated.

F-Phlogopite (Sources A, B) [KMg3AlSi3O10(F,OH)2]

Two light calcite crystals beside botryoidal accumulation of F-phlogopite. 66x
During extensive analyses of various phlogopite inclusions in the sapphires, traces of Ti and F were observed. Because of the Fe-concentration, they have to be characterized as solid solutions with a minor amount of annite [KFe3(Al,Fe)Si3O10(F,OH)2]. Similar F-phlogopites were detected in a hand specimen which orignates from the Andranondambo mine.
