r. J. Mullis is the head of the fluid inclusion research laboratory of the Institute of Mineralogy and Petrographiy of the University of Basel in Switzerland. He is internationally recognized as one of the leading figures in fluid inclusion research in combination with geodynamic modelling. Joint profects of Dr. J. Mullis with Dr. A. Peretti and GRS GemResearch Swisslab include the determination of composition, origin and formation conditions of the mineralizing fluids in rubies and sapphires as well as the discrimination of synthetic rubies and sapphires from their natural counterparts by detailed gemmological and fluid inclusion studies (see Joint publications).
