One of the rarest ever found gemstone species ( "Painite") now part of the GRS collection. The GRS Painite of 54 ct is the world's largest sample and most extensively analysed sample (see
No.6a and No.6b,
American Mineralogist).
World's largest "Painite" of over 54ct in size (as published in
Contributions to Gemology No. 2, p.20) was co-investigated extensively by GRS. The results revealed that the crystal structure of "Painite" was incorrectly determined previously (see our publication in
American Mineralogist). This important mineralogical piece is now saved for the mineralogical community as a reference piece. According to our statistics, the Painite of 54 ct is sample No. 6 referenced world-wide (other samples at
Smithsonian Institution,
British Museum, at
GIA and a private collection).
