GRS publishes the discovery of a new sapphire mine in Sri Lanka on Youtube

An extreme sapphire rush occurred in February in Sri Lanka which resulted in one of the most spectacular scenes in gemstone mining. GRS was there and collected never-seen movie clips, researched the rocks and collected samples.

GRS is proud to publish its latest research on the legendary new sapphire mine near the Yala National Park at Kataragama in Sri Lanka. It is aimed to report on the rush of the public to a mining site, the transformation to a regular mining, to document the work of GRS in the field and give an introduction to the washing of gemstones. In all, a unique insider’s look at our work packed in a 3 minute movie.

This first step in the launch of a series of more detailed GRS research reports on new mines and discoveries that will start to go on-line on the 15th May 2012.
