GRS Lab Seminar during September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair

On 16th September 2013, GRS held a seminar about the latest GRS expedition to the Mogok ruby, sapphire and spinel mines (Part I) as well as the world of magnificent spinels – provenance and identification (Part II).

During the 2.5h presentation, split into two sections, Dr. Peretti explained to an audience of around 150 interested gemologists and trade-professionals the current state of mining operations in Mogok. The highlight of the first section was 10 minute long 3D-movie with the first ever 3D-footage of the Mogok ruby and sapphire mines (recorded by GRS). The 3D-footage was supported by plenty more film material illustrating the ruby mining, processing and trade procedure in Mogok. Together with the narration and information given by Dr. Peretti the complexities of the local gem industry were visualized and highlighted.
